Pausing a monitor

2 min read

If you are going on vacation, doing scheduled maintenance or temporarily switching off a service, you do not have to delete the monitor. Just pause it - no checks, no alerts, but the historical data remains.

How to pause

In the monitor detail, in the top right, click Pause. The state changes to "paused" and checks stop immediately.

How to resume

In the same place, click Start. The first check will run within 1 minute.

What happens during the pause

  • No new Check records
  • No Telegram / email alerts
  • Uptime % is not calculated (status "paused" in reports)
  • The status page shows "Maintenance" (severity=maintenance)
  • The history of previous checks remains

Scheduled maintenance vs pause

For scheduled maintenance windows (every Sunday 03:00-04:00, etc.) it is better to use maintenance windows - a repeating schedule, automatic on/off, info on the status page.

Pause is for ad-hoc situations (a one-off outage, vacation).
